PSHE & RSE

Co-op Academy Grove is dedicated to ensuring that our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is carefully planned and delivered in a sensitive and mindful way. The scheme that we use is taught in a safe and comfortable space by teachers who have built trusting relationships with pupils.

PSHE lessons are taught weekly and children are encouraged to develop skills such as listening to others, develop their own personal views and focus on how to incorporate our British Values into everyday life.

During our PSHE and RSE lessons, our focus is to teach and support children when they are learning to navigate the world around them and their relationships with others, celebrating who they are as individuals whilst sharing their dreams and goals, caring for both their physical and mental health and understanding the changes they will go through.

Our Jigsaw Scheme!

The scheme Jigsaw follows a mindful approach to PSHE whilst allowing our children to access lessons which are tailored to be creative and progressive in their learning. Following Jigsaw, all of our year groups will be focusing on the same theme at the same time.

At Co-op Academy Grove we want to ensure pupils have the opportunity to discuss their own experiences and understand how these might link back to our important topics in PSHE.

Jigsaw allows pupils to do this in a way that will boost their confidence and self-esteem. For example, we use tailored Jigsaw assemblies which focus on our current topic, allow for mindfulness time in the classroom before beginning the lessons and always ensure children reflect on their learning either with independently or with their peers.
